Participants each receive a free white t-shirt to wear for the massive color throw. Middle and High Schools students are needed to volunteer to help with setup\, registration\, and the color throw. ICC is a nonprofit and students earn community service.

DESCRIPTION:Brave swimmers will take on a cold challenge on Super Bowl Sunday before the big game by plunging into Long Island Sound for the Swim Across America – Long Island Sound’s inaugural “Freeze Out Cancer” cold water super splash on Sunday\, February 8\, 2026\, at 12:15 p.m.\, at the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck\, New York. Those interested in participating can register at swimacrossamerica.org/longislandsound and click on the Freeze Out Cancer link on the page. \nSwim Across America – Long Island Sound is one of the nation’s largest annual open water charity swimming events. This year the organization is expanding its swim activities to include this fun winter-time cold water super splash to make even more waves to fight cancer! \nSwim Across America – Long Island Sound’s Freeze Out Cancer cold water splash brings together swimmers and splashers willing to brave the cold for something bigger than themselves. Participants will take a celebratory jump in cold water to raise funds to give families impacted by cancer hope. Proceeds from the event will support immunotherapy research at the Swim Across America Laboratory of Dr. Luis Diaz at Memorial Sloan Kettering\, and the MSK Kids Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center\, as well as immunotherapy research and clinical trials at the Swim Across America Laboratory at Weill Cornell Cancer Center\, pediatric oncology research at Morgan Columbia University Medical Center and patient services with Cancer Support Team. \nParticipants register with a $100 self-donation fee. The registration fee is tax-deductible. All registered participants will receive a Swim Across America beanie\, a warm beverage and major bragging rights with their peers. Multiple participants can be registered during one registration process. All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver on the event page and bring it to check-in. Participants younger than 18 must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Participants are encouraged to bring a towel\, warm clothes\, friends and energy to Freeze out Cancer! DESCRIPTION:Join the 33rd annual Swim Across America – Long Island Sound open water swim to make waves to fight cancer on Saturday\, July 26\, 2025. This fun and inspiring event attracts more than 800 swimmers\, volunteers\, supporters and spectators\, and is Swim Across America’s largest open water swim in the U.S. With swim lengths of 2K\, 5K and 10K\, plus a 1/2-mile pool swim on July 26\, the swim has an event for everyone. There are also an additional eight pool swims starting June 27 and running through August 2 at area clubs that are KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS in support of pediatric cancer research. Established in 1992\, Swim Across America – Long Island Sound is closing in on raising a record $30 million dollars for its local New York beneficiaries\, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center\, Columbia University Cancer Center\, Cancer Support Team and Weill Cornell Medical Center. \nThis year’s Swim Across America – Long Island Sound event includes its large open water swim on July 26\, that is a point-to-point swim leaving from the Larchmont Yacht Club and swimming to the Larchmont Shore Club. \nNow in its 33rd year\, Swim Across America – Long Island Sound has contributed nearly $30 million towards cancer research\, resulting in FDA approved immunotherapy treatments of Keytruda\, Opdivo and Yervoy. What’s more is the money raised locally stays local\, providing cancer care and research grants to The Cancer Support Team\, a Westchester-based home care program offering free services to patients and their families; to New York Presbyterian Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Lab; to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Research Laboratories of Dr. Diaz and Dr. Kung Kids Department of Pediatrics; and to Weill Cornell Medicine Research Laboratory of Dr. Wolchok and Dr. Merghoub. \nNationally\, Swim Across America has generated more than $100 million for cancer research since its founding 1987\, supporting more than 60 research projects each year in 25 markets. Complimentary pizza and soft drinks will be provided by The Barley Beach House and the volunteer who unearths the “weirdest piece of trash” will be awarded a themed prize. \nThis multi-municipality event is organized by the Town of Rye and includes four cleanup sites:\n• Bowman Avenue (near Port Chester Middle School)\, Rye Brook\, NY\n(Meet in Rye Ridge Shopping Center\, Plaza Level);\n• Crawford Park\, 122 N Ridge St\, Rye Brook\, NY\n(Wear long pants\, long sleeves\, close-toed shoes and gloves appropriate for invasive vine removal\, park on-site);\n• Downtown Port Chester\, NY\n(Meet at the Port Chester Metro North Train Station);\n• Disbrow Park\, 141 Oakland Beach Avenue\, Rye\, NY\n(Wear close-toed\, water-resistant shoes and clothes appropriate for marshland activity). \nThe event will proceed either rain or shine and is eligible for community service hours. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWe look forward to seeing you at Disbrow or one of the other cleanup sites on November 7!

SUMMARY:Teen Take and Make: ISPY Community Project
DESCRIPTION:.Take and Make an I SPY page kit that will become part of a book! The library will provide a kit of unique bits and bobs\, and participants are encouraged to add their own home’s flare to the project. Best practices directions will be provided so everyone’s final photo of their collage will be gorgeous as its blown up to a full page spread in the book we create! Participants will have 1 week from picking up their kit to submit their photograph for the book.This project is open to all members of our community of any age\, and we do encourage younger creators to have adult supervision. Community members eligible for community service will receive 2 hours for their work as well.  There will be a limited number kits available\, so sign up and reserve yours now to be a part of this amazing project. Please be aware\, kits may contain items that may pose a choking hazard to younger children.
