DESCRIPTION:Part 1 of 2: all participants must attend both sessions to receive their certificate! Registering for this event signs you up for both sessions. .Babysitters have the responsibility of caring for children and making important decisions while they are in charge to keep not only the child safe but themselves as well. Parents entrust their child with the babysitter\, therefore\, it is crucial he or she knows the basics of child care. In this Introduction to Babysitting Course\, participants will learn interviewing tips\, communication skills\, ages and stages of young babies and toddlers\, safety and first aid tips\, and feeding and caring for children\, including diaper changing.In addition\, with heighted precautions due to COVID-19\, babysitters will learn steps he or she can take to decrease the spread of the virus as suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Such precautions include taking their temperature\, wearing gloves and a mask\, using hand sanitizer\, and washing hands regularly. Participants will also learn symptoms to look for.This event is ideal for participants ages 12+\, or those who will be 12 before the end of Spring 2021. The instructor has taught Kindergarten and 2 nd grade and is currently a 1 st grade teacher. She holds three teacher certifications including Early Childhood\, General Education and Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Literacy. DESCRIPTION:.This week’s activity: Witty Gloves Enhance your at home learning experiences with Take and Make Kits from the library with a new kit for you to pick up at the library and bring home every WEDNESDAY! Every week there is a new fun activity to do in your home. These kits are appropriate for teens in 6-12th grade. Take and Make Kits from the library are free! Sign up ahead of time on our reservation page to request your kit and arrange a pickup time at our outdoor curbside pickup table. New kits are released on Wednesdays\, but are available for pickup all week. Let us know in your reservation how many teens you need a kit for\, but please limit your request to one kit per teen. DESCRIPTION:.AT&T’s Code HeroesLearn to Code\, Change the World with The Digital Arts Experience and The Westchester Library SystemLearning to code is about much more than simply creating games. Code can be used to educate our peers and change the world. This program focuses on creating amazing experiences with code to educate our community on the effects of cyberbullying. Students will address the impacts of cyberbullying and design a choose your own adventure game that presents a variety of different cyberbullying scenarios. Each group will brainstorm and storyboard their scenarios\, create custom graphics\, and code their games using Scratch! The Digital Arts Experience is providing this program in partnership with AT&T and The Westchester Libraries system is and 100% free! This event is designed for students in grades 6-8.

DESCRIPTION:.The Teen Intersectionality Book Group is a new teen book group being co-run by members of our TAB. Its topical focus is on social justice and current events. Join us for this month’s book selection: All Boys Aren’t Blue.”In a series of personal essays\, prominent journalist and LGBTQIA+ activist George M. Johnson explores his childhood\, adolescence\, and college years in New Jersey and Virginia. From the memories of getting his teeth kicked out by bullies at age five\, to flea marketing with his loving grandmother\, to his first sexual relationships\, this young-adult memoir weaves together the trials and triumphs faced by Black queer boys.Both a primer for teens eager to be allies as well as a reassuring testimony for young queer men of color\, All Boys Aren’t Blue covers topics such as gender identity\, toxic masculinity\, brotherhood\, family\, structural marginalization\, consent\, and Black joy.
