Rye Mystery Man: NY Times Needs Your Help

Knicks mystery man 2

A recent article about Rye resident and New York Knicks Coach Mike D’Antoni mis-identified the person sitting next him in the article's picture. It turns out the esteemed New York Times has no idea who the person is.

MyRye.com thought we'd turn to our readers. Do you know? Who is the Rye mystery man? Take a look at the photo above, and leave your answer as a comment to this story.

The Times correction states: "A picture caption on Feb. 16 with an article about Knicks Coach Mike D’Antoni and his son’s high school basketball team in Rye, N.Y., erroneously identified the man sitting next to him at a game as Jack Twyman, the Basketball Hall of Fame member whose grandsons play on the same high school team. The man’s identity is not known."

  1. Thank you MyRye.com for solving the mystery. I can corroborate the fact that George Smith is indeed the mystery man in the NYT photo – not John Kennedy “Jack” Twyman of Univ of Cinncinati, NBA and ABC Sports analyst fame. George Smith, by the way, was a talented bball player in his own right – he played college ball at Trinity College. His son Conor continues that tradition at Rye H.S. The attractive “mystery woman” sitting on George’s right is Mrs. Donna Smith – 2 very dedicated fans who also happen to be my daughter Audrey’s in-laws.
