Rye made headlines for being nailed by Hurricane Irene. Rye appeared "above the fold" on the front of The New York Times (Monday, August 29, 2011) in a photo showing the flooded Morgan's Fish House on Elm Street.

Yes, Rye made it “above the fold”, but to really appreciate the picture, you’ve got to read the text in the menu board at the back of the picture which says, “How lucky can you be?”. Someone at the NYT has a very dark sense of humor.
