Bomb Threat Over, Not Before Shutting School and Canceling Sports Game

A bomb threat Friday evening shut down Rye High and Middle School, and forced the cancelation of a basketball game.

Bomb threats, "stranger danger" weirdos approaching kids and even a student alegedly with a gun have all kept local school and police on their toes.

See the LoHud story.

The "all clear" email from Frank Alvarez, Rye City Schools Superindendent, send just before 9pm Friday:

The "all clear" has been issued at the Rye High School and Middle School Campus. The Rye City Police Department and the Westchester County Police thoroughly examined the High School and Middle School building with the help of bomb-sniffing dogs. They deemed the building was safe at shortly after 8:00 p.m. this evening.

Our highest priority is the safety of our students, faculty and staff. We are grateful to the Rye City Police Department and County Police Department for their swift response. An investigation into the source of the threat is now underway.

Sincerely,
Frank Alvarez
