"…Wednesday proved to be a rough night for crews in rowing shells on the Long Island Sound.
A large gust of wind apparently capsized two different boats, dumping 15 people into the cold water off the Sound Shore, Mamaroneck village police said Thursday.
Both boats were affiliated with the RowAmerica club in Rye, police said…
The police and Mamaroneck harbormaster found 10 women and one man treading water and pulled them to safety, Lanza said…
A short time later, the police were notified about another missing boat in the same area, Lanza said. The police boat conducted another search and, with the assistance of Sea Tow, found four men who had made their way to Hen Island in Rye."
