With over one foot of snow in the forecast and winds up to 50 MPH, Rye schools will be closed Tuesday, March 14, 2017 and the city has suspended sanitation service.

In a statement, the city said: "there will be no Sanitation or Recyling Pickup on Tuesday, March 14th. Pickup for Tuesday’s routes will be made on Wednesday, March 15th. Greenwaste pickup is cancelled this week. Please stay off the roads during the storm to allow the City of Rye Public Works Department to clear the roads."

Rye Schools Superintendent Brian Monahan said "I am sure you are not surprised to learn that on Tuesday, March 14, all Rye City Schools will be closed all day. Have a good evening. Stay safe."
