The Playland Carousel, which was damaged by fire on July 9th, will remain closed for the season. But the ride will be repaired and reopened, according to LoHud.com:

"The Playland carousel isn’t likely to reopen before the end of the 2017 season due to repairs from a fire that broke out on the ride’s roof on Sunday.

Westchester County, which owns Playland, is still assessing damages but expects the ride can be repaired. The historic carved horses weren’t touched by the flames.

“The horses will ride again, they will,” Peter Tartaglia, deputy commissioner of the Westchester County Parks Department, told lawmakers at a legislative committee meeting Tuesday. “They’re going to need to be looked at and refurbished to a certain degree and the mechanics of the ride will have to be looked at, too.”…

A consultant is expected to issue a written report on the condition of the ride and make the final call if it'll be closed for the rest of the year, he added.

The cause of the fire appears to be electrical, with a spark seeming to have originated from the lights on the ride."

The recent fire came 51 years after the massive Playland fire of 1966, which destroyed much of the park. According to Wikiwand, "In 1966, a major fire at the amusement park claimed some of Rye Playland's all time classic attractions, including the original Bumper Car ride and the "Magic Carpet" Funhouse."
