Rye Schools – The New 22 – District-wide

Welcome back to school!

The Rye schools have 22 new faces – teachers and administrators – going into the new school year.

Today MyRye.com will introduce you to the three new faces that have district-wide roles. The rest of this week and next, we'll introduce you to the new teachers and administrators you will see across the system.

Now.. tell us your name, your role and a little bit about you…

Bauer  Tara

Tara Bauer
Elementary Literacy Staff Developer, Midland, Milton, and Osborn Schools
Ms. Bauer previously worked as an Academic Intervention Services teacher at Osborn School for the 2017-18 school year. Prior to coming to Rye, Ms. Bauer worked as a targeted small group teacher and a general and special education teacher at P.S. 158, Bayard Taylor School, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She worked as a Staff Developer and was selected as a model teacher to demonstrate exemplary classroom techniques for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. Ms. Bauer has a B.A. (cum laude) in Sociology with a minor in Education from UMASS Amherst and an M.A. in General and Special Education from NYU.

Payne  Letitia

Dr. Letitia Payne
Supervisor of Secondary Special Education
Dr. Payne comes to Rye from Anne M. Dorner Middle School in Ossining, NY, where she spent the past 16 years as the school’s Response to Intervention (RTI) Team Chairperson. She has been a special education teacher since 2002. She has a B.A. in English and a Master of Professional Studies in English and Special Education, a Professional Diploma in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, all from Manhattanville College. In addition, she holds an M.S. in Literacy and Learning in the Content from Walden University.

Wears  Katherine

Katie Wears
Elementary Literacy Staff Developer, Midland, Milton, and Osborn Schools
Ms. Wears comes to Rye from the Chappaqua Central School District where she worked as a Staff Developer for Literacy and Social Studies. Prior to working in Chappaqua, she was a Staff Developer for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. She began her career as a kindergarten and then first grade classroom teacher. Ms. Wears has a B.S. in Business Administration from Clarkson University, an M.S. in Teaching, Elementary Education, from SUNY Potsdam, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
