For Friday, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers:

201 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
14 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 187 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
1 new COVID-19 case

Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer delivered his COVID-19 update from the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains. Latimer was joined by Director of Economic Development Bridget Gibbons. The two discussed the “Phase One” re-opening which starts today (Tuesday).

In regards to entering “Phase One” Latimer said “It’s probably as Churchill said the end of the beginning” (versus the beginning of the end). The State COVID pages detail businesses eligible to re-open and related procedures that must be followed. Retail is limited to pick-up only (curb-side or at the entrance of the store) and certain types of storefronts such as hair and nail salons are still not eligible to open.

Just like everyone else, Latimer is looking at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional  monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards continued reopening.

Important to note expanded reporting now shows fatality data from all nursing homes in the State, including The Osborn in Rye.
