In Memory: Robert Lawrence Gerety

Obituary - Robert Lawrence GeretyRobert Lawrence Gerety, a Rye resident for 25 years, passed away suddenly on March 14, 2021. He was the son of William J. Gerety Jr. and Marie K. Buchspies. Robert graduated from Mamaroneck High school in 1976 and received the Outstanding Varsity Hockey Award. Later he attended Washington County Community College in Calais, Maine and began his career in General Construction Building Trades. Robert worked for Westchester Country Club and was a Senior Carpenter in the Engineering Department for 15 years. He was also a Shop Steward Union Representative.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of 29 years and their daughter Kaitlin; sisters Frances, Mary, Grace, and brother Bill; mother in law Marie Gianguzzi; sister in law Laurie Gianguzzi; nieces Meghan and Erin Cody; nephew Sean Cody; and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY on Friday March 26, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY on Saturday March 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The Mass will be livestreamed (see link here) for those who are unable to attend in person. Mausoleum Entombment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robert’s name to the American Heart Association or the FFF Wildlife Center in Hunter, NY.
