Capital Ideas; Change Blowing Into Town & More: Rye City Council Agenda for March 2, 2022

The city council’s agenda for its meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 is out. The meeting is on Zoom (not in person).

The Council will convene at 5:45pm for executive session (not open to the public) to discuss pending litigation, personnel matters and pending contracts. The meeting will also be aired on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 39. We’ll also see you on the Internet (live and archive).

Formal office hours of the Mayor and other officials have been suspended.

Residents may email comments regarding the public hearing to: publichearingcomments@ryeny.gov. All comments must be received by 4:15 pm on the day of the meeting. The subject of the email should reference the hearing topic. Please include your name and address.

Let’s check the batting order and highlights from the 13 agenda items.

  • Ida Need Flood Prevention. Post Ida Storm Update.
  •  

    Capital Ideas. Update on the City’s Capital Projects Program & Resolution adopting a negative declaration for various capital improvements.

     

  •  

    Capital Creation. Resolution to issue $13,550,000 of bonds to finance the costs of various City projects.

  • Change Blowing Into Town. Adjourn until March 16, 2022 the public hearing to create a new local law, Chapter 122, “Landscapers and Leaf Blower Regulations” requiring all landscapers to obtain an annual permit in order to operate as a landscaper and restrict the use of leaf blowers.
  •  

    Open Mic. Residents may be heard on matters for Council consideration that do not appear on the agenda.

  •  

    Parking Veggies in the Lot. Consideration of a request by the Rye Chamber of Commerce for the use of City Car Park #2 on Sundays from May 8, 2022 through December 4, 2022 from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the Rye Farmers Market.

  •  

    Cool Cars. Consideration of a request by the Rye Free Reading Room for the use of the Village Green and City Hall Parking lot to host the Annual Vehicle Fair Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  •  

    And Cool Food. Consideration of a request by the Rye Free Reading Room to have three food trucks at the Annual Vehicle Fair on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The City Council will have to waive § 144-8D and G of the City Code.

The next regular meeting of the City Council will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.
