In Memory: Laura L. Rock

Obituary - Laura L. RockLaura L. Rock passed away in Sarasota FL. on Monday, July 18, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald A. Rock. Laura was born in Mount Vernon, New York and resided in Cherry Valley, MA. She previously lived in Attleboro, MA. with her late husband for the majority of her life.

Laura served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. She was a graduate of Rye High School in 1969. She worked for Wheaton College for 25 years, and volunteered for the City of Attleboro’s Veterans Dept. Helping her brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces brought her a lot of joy. Laura also enjoyed her many years with the girl scouts as a leader and volunteer. She had a love of crafting and knitting and would often make creations for others.

Laura would talk about her Florida home all the time and loved spending time with family and friends there, it was truly her second home. She was obsessed with her flowers and vegetable gardens. She loved sharing her vegetables with everyone, and seeing all the birds that would fly around her flowers and bathe in her bird bath. Laura enjoyed many years on the beaches of Rocky Point, in Warwick, R.I. Where the family use to own a cottage, you would often find her clamming or entertaining family and friends.

She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a beautiful, kind soul that cared about others more than herself. She always worried about others and wanted to make sure everyone was cared for. If you knew Laura you knew about her famous chicken wings, potato salad and many other delicious dishes. She loved to cook for family parties and gatherings.

Laura was the beloved mother of William R. Rock of Florida, Laura A. Rock of Cherry Valley, Mass., and Jessica D. McCauley and her husband Travis of Leicester, Mass. She is survived by five grandchildren, Jesse Rock, Ryan Hall, Crystal Rock, Jackson and Jase McCauley. She is also survived by two sisters Margaret Johnson and her husband Michael of Florida, and Mary Klimasiewfski and her husband Joseph of Florida. Laura is predeceased by her parents Jessie and William Eckhardt. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Project New Hope Inc. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 9am-11am in the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, MA. Prayers will begin at 11am.

Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
