The Rye Garnets travel to battle the Lakeland Hornets this Friday, October 21st @6:00pm – watch it live.

For the game preview, we turn to the Steve “The OG” Feeney:

RYE GARNETS @ LAKELAND HORNETS  – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 @ 6:00PM

LAST WEEK’S GAME – CLARKSTOWN SOUTH @ RYE

The undefeated Clarkstown South Vikings invaded Nugent with an undefeated, unblemished record having defeated the Harrison Huskies earlier in the ’22 campaign by a single point in overtime. The Garnets jumped out quickly and held a commanding lead into the third quarter. Following each 4th quarter score the Vikings attempted an onside kick, with one of three being successful. In a final score that seems closer than the game itself was on the field, Rye hung onto their lead and knocked the Vikings from the ranks of the unbeaten 26-23.

GARNETS HEAD TO SHRUB OAK FOR FINAL REGULAR SEASON CONTEST AT LAKELAND

This week the Garnets head north – back to the colder climes of arctic Northern Westchester for the concluding contest of the ’22 regular season. This marks the fourth time Rye has travelled to reach distant game sites – Cornwall, Brewster, Yorktown, Bedford/Mt Kisco (Fox Lane) and now Shrub Oak (Lakeland). Did I say Shrub Oak? Oh for the days of road trips to Pelham, Eastchester, and even Sleepy Hollow. But despite getting to know the County Coach bus drivers on a first name basis, the alien fields have proven generous to the Garnets record.

Now it’s the LAKELAND HORNETS buzzing with excitement as upset honey dreams drip from the hive. Stingers sharp, legs loaded with pollen, the Green and Gold seek to sting their way into the win column presently trailing Rye (2-0-0 1.000 ).

This week’s prediction and a birthday ditty for the 1975 Garnet Head Cheerleader:

Hornets Stumble                              Hornets Mumble

Lakeland Fumbles                            Lakeland Tumbles

Hornets Grumble                             Hornets not Humble

Lakeland Crumbles                          Lakeland in a Jumble

Hornets Bumble

Garnets Rumble 34-13 (oh lay oh lay)
