Boys Varsity Tennis Dices Pelham

Rye Boys Varsity Tennis diced Pelham on Tuesday, winning the home match 7 – 0.

“Rye took on the Pelham Pelicans today at Disbrow Park,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “With confidence, Rye collectively swept all matches. After splitting sets, number one singles player Nicolas Echlov won a super tie-breaker. Matthew Templeman and Alex Gordon at second and third singles respectively, only giving up two games. Luke Gordon played his first singles match and confidently won 6-0, 6-2. First doubles Henry Paul and Henry Bagley won 6-4, 6-2, second doubles, Cian Keegan and Filip Glitterstam won 6-2, 6-2, and third doubles, Gunnar Wey and Ty Bibas won 6-0, 6-2. After losing two matches in the last match with Pelham, Rye was determined to do better in the second round. They came on strong and played with confidence today. With two more matches left in the regular season, Rye is looking forward to a strong finish and a good showing in the individual Sectional Tournament this upcoming weekend.”

The Garnets are now 11 – 1 and remain first in the league. Varsity hosts Scarsdale B on Wednesday at 4:15pm.
