Soul Ryeders, the local non-profit cancer support organization, will host their first Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk event in the City of Rye this Sunday, May 21, 2023. There will be major detours and multiple road closures in parts of Rye. The areas most impacted will be along the Milton Road, Midland Avenue, and Forest Avenue roadways.
There will be over 1,200 runners/walkers and more than 150 volunteers. Fundraising monies from this event will go to support Soul Ryeders’ programs which support anyone in the NY Tri-state area impacted by any type of cancer.
“This started as a solo run in 2020 during COVID, in honor of my late wife April,” said Adrian Deen, race co-chair and member of the Soul Ryeders board of directors. “It received such a great response and support from my personal community, we just had to expand it and make it an annual event.”
The Sunday event starts at 8:00am and finishes 11:30am at Playland Park. The course will weave through the streets of Rye with the final stretch along the Long Island Sound.
