Rye history expert Joie Cooney will lead residents from the Knapp House to several other landmarks in Rye’s coastal neighborhoods. The tour will shed light on the rich history of Rye’s original inhabitants and communities.
There will be stops at Milton Cemetery, the Bird Sanctuary and Meeting House, Rye Town Park, and Playland, among other places. Residents will discover the ways in which Rye’s summer landscape has developed and transformed over time — for years, Rye was a vacation destination for many, with inns and hotels along the Long Island Sound.
The tour will begin at 10:00am at the Knapp House, which is located at 295 Rye Beach Avenue, and it is expected to be about 90 minutes long. Parking is available in the Nursery Field parking lot.
Tickets for the tour are $25 per person or $60 per family (up to 5 people) and can be purchased here.
