Flooding Closes YMCA, Children’s Room at Library

There are reports of extensive damage in the Indian Village section of Rye and on Mead Place by the YMCA. Many home owners in these areas were displaced by the March 2nd flood, and were on the road to making repairs, only to be badly hit again by the flooding this past Sunday.

The YMCA apparently had 4 feet of water in the 1st floor and is closed indefinitely. And over 5,000 books, the carpeting and furniture in the recently renovated children’s room in the Rye Free Reading Room (the public library) was destroyed by the flood.
