More Than a Sleepy Bedroom Community
We bet Rye resident [name redacted] wishes he were a MyRye.com reader.
That's because back on January 17th readers learned that Rye and three other Westchester cities just competed a sting in which they arrested 66 people for soliciting prostitution by responding to listings advertising same on Craigslist.com.
So much for a sleepy bedroom community…
Rye police had so much success the first time, they set-up a second sting last Thursday at a local hotel, according to the Journal News. Rye Police Lieutenant Joseph Verille told the Journal News:
""The phone was ringing off the hook," as soon as the posting went up at 11 a.m., Verille said, but police did not have a room until after noon and had to turn away business."
Unlike the first sting where plea deals resulted in the names of individuals to be sealed, names of the 11 arrested for soliciting a prostitute were released and listed in the Journal News. The patrons included Rye resident [name redacted] and ten non-residents who came shopping for love from as far away as Suffern, Bridgeport, Ardsley and New York City.
hmmm….gives a whole new meaning to “i’ll be back – i’m running to the store”. yeah – sure you are.
