Feeling Crabby at the Marshlands
This horseshoe crab was photographed on the shores on Rye’s Marshland Conservancy.
According to Wikipedia approximately 10% of the horseshoe crab breeding population dies each year when rough surf flips the creatures onto their backs. The Ecological Research & Development Group has launched a "Just Flip ‘Em" campaign, asking beachgoers who see the crabs on their back to simply turn the crabs back over.
