This Weekend in Rye: Spooky and Fun

OSBORN SCHOOL FALL CARNIVAL Osborn School, Saturday, October 25th, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; Silent Auction closes at 3:30. The fun includes a flying witch ride, a haunted tunnel, a cake walk, body art, jumping castles and much more!!  The Carnival will offer foods from around the world – from Japanese delights to pizza and International baked goods- something to satisfy everyone’s appetites.

RYE HISTORICAL SOCIETY Family Pumpkin Carving Event at the Square House:  Saturday, October 25th, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Families are invited to stop by the Square House and enjoy an afternoon of fall fun.  Pick a pumpkin for our pumpkin patch, then design and carve your own masterpiece.  Kids can also enjoy making scary masks and mini-ghosts just in time for Halloween.  Fee is $20.00 per family; includes pumpkin, carving tools, and craft activities.  For more information call 967-7588.

FRIENDS OF EDITH READ WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Falconry/Birds of Prey Program:  Saturday, October 25th, 12:00 p.m., at the Edith G. Read Natural Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (free of charge; no reservations necessary) James Eyring, Assistant Director of the Pace University Environmental Center, is an Environmental Educator and Master Falconer specializing in birds of prey.  James will bring live birds of prey including hawks, owls, and falcons. For more information, please call Curator Jason Klein at 967-8720.

RYE RECREATION HAUNTED PARK XVII:   October 24th & 25th; 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. (weather permitting); Rye Rec. Park; $6.00 per person.  Chills, screams, and terror are in store for all of those who dare to enter!  The faint of heart are encouraged to enjoy our Tot Room, which will provide ghoulish games, activities, and entertainment for younger children.  Refreshments and treats will be on sale.  Parental discretion is advised, as the trail may be too scary for young children.

NATURE CENTER HALLOWEEN PROGRAM:  Saturday, October 25th, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (rain or shine).  Come in costume or as you are as naturalist Nancy Carlson explains the animal lore of the creatures associated with Halloween—bats,  cats, frogs, and owls!  Some will be real, others only life-like , but will you be able to tell?  The fee for the program is $10.00/person or $25.00/family.  Pre-registration is required; call 967-5150 to register.  This program is suitable for families with children of all ages! For more information, please call 967-5150, e-mail [email protected], or visit us online at www.ryenaturecenter.org.
