Wreaths Across America to Visit Rye Thursday, 10am
It left Sunday night from a small town in Maine and will arrive at Rye City Hall this Thursday, December 11th at 10am.
American Legion Post 128, Councilman Mack Cunningham and other city officials will welcome Wreaths Across America for a short ceremony at City Hall honoring our veterans. The effort, started in 1992 by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine, brings 18,000 wreaths each holiday season to lay on the tombstones of our nation's veterans and fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery and other locations.
A truck convoy carrying the wreaths takes a week to reach Arlington National Cemetery stopping in select communities along the way. Thanks to officials at the American Legion Post 128 and Councilman Cunningham, one of those communities is Rye.
