Land Records, Salt-n-Pepa—Items on the Agenda for City Council Wednesday – January 28, 2009
The city council's agenda is out for Wednesday, January 28, 2009. See you at 8pm in the Council Room at Rye City Hall or on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 39. We'll also see you on the Internet (next day) at https://rye.peg.tv.
Note there will be an executive session immediately preceding the council meeting at 7:30pm to discuss "real estate matters". Let's check the batting order and highlights from the 13 agenda items.
- Open Mic. Residents may be heard who have matters to discuss that do not appear on the agenda. Always a crowd pleaser…
- Fun with Real Estate Records. Authorization for City Manager to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding for remote access to the Westchester County Clerk’s Public Viewer for Land and Legal Records. Looks like a fun database but it cost $1,200/year.
- EMT. Authorization for City Manager to enter into an Agreement for Emergency Medical Transport with the Village of Port Chester, the Village of Rye Brook and Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. Head over to Tremont Capital AKA Triage Capital.
- Salt-n-Pepa. Or just salt. Resolution to transfer $50,000 from contingency to Public Works to purchase salt for storm coverage for the remainder of the winter season.
The next regular meeting of the city Council will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
That’s great news that Otis is letting Shew spend $1,200 to sign up for Westchester County’s Public Viewer for Land and Legal records. Will this be available to all Rye residents? I would like to know where Shew has lived for the past 5 1/2 years that he has been the City Manager of Rye.
Another Executive Session???? Only 1/2 hour? How much longer do we have to wait for Shew, Otis and company to come out from behind the curtain to tell us about what they are going to do with the former CVS building and that they didn’t decide anything in secret?
I’ll be there! No salt for me, there is plenty in the Sound already. If you missed my first appearance at the city council meeting you can view it below.

Sorry! Wrong council meeting. This is the right one. Nevertheless, you should watch them both. They are very informative. I may be a joke but my problems are serious.

Saw the meeting last night and this time Bob Schubert brings in not one but three letters from Nita Lowey’s office asking for remedial action by the City on the damages to Bob’s wetland property.
3 Letters – from Lowey to Otis – asking the City to uphold its own environmental laws!
What in the world is going on here? Bob’s been asking for over 2 years now.
Anyone with a TV set could see the way President Obama took the time to warmly greet Lowey on the way down the stairs to his swearing in.
What is the council thinking? How does this stonewalling and obfuscating help Rye?
Ted C,
Look at this one.
