This Tuesday May 5th, The Woman's Club of Rye, Children's Philanthropy is holding their annual fundraising event at the Rye Arts Center.
The 5th annual Designing Women of Rye & Beyond will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rye Arts Center. The event features local women who own their own businesses and whose merchandise include jewelry, clothing, the latest accessories, unique handbags, vintage jewelry and gifts, home furnishings, sweets, stationery and many more items for sale.
Buy clothes and support charity at the same time…
Each year group donates over $25,000 through scholarships to Rye Arts Center, Rye Youth Council, Rye Nature Center and Kids' S.P.A.C.E., all of which support the children of Rye. The group will also be awarding two high school scholarships based on a student's community service and desire to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children in Rye.
The Woman's Club of Rye is a volunteer organization with some 45 Rye women members including the current 2008-2009 Children’s Philanthropy Board Co-chairs: Amy Kashchy and Carolyn McGinnis; Secretary: Maura Semprevivo; Treasurer: young Kim; Philanthropic: Lorraine Levinson, Helene Byrnes, Lee Ann Simonson; Hospitality: Mary Hale, Trish Killip; Publicity/Marketing: Lisa Dominici Faries, Susan Janart, Judith Passannante and Membership: Camille Galdstone, Anne Druckman.
Other annual events include outdoor family portraits, Halloween window painting bake sale and a rug sale.
