Local Election Season – What Do MyRye.com Readers Think?
Local election season is going to hit full stride in September and MyRye.com is going to start its election season coverage early.
We'll be fielding reader polls, running Q&A with candidates and elected officials and MyRye.com publisher Jay Sears will be penning the Town Hall column on the local election for the September issue of Rye Magazine.
But first, what do MyRye.com readers think? What should we be asking our elected officials this season? Leave a comment below or drop us a line.
Here is a list to get you started:
1. Flooding and flood mitigation
2. Fiscal responsibility including taxes, budgeting and labor relations
3. Public works and city services including snow removal
4. Safety including policing, fire and traffic
5. Schools including quality and labor relations
6. Public recreation and environment including parks and recreational programs
Give us your specific questions on these issues and others and we'll do our best to get the candidates on the record. And we'll ask all of them to interact with all of you on MyRye.com.
See you on the hustings.
There is an annual contest at Texas A&M University
calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.
This year’s term was
“Political Correctness.”
The winner wrote:
“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream
media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”
Can we ask Mayor Otis if he considers himself to be Politically Correct with the avoidance of environmental law enforcement?

Can we ask Ray if it is politically correct to slander his neighbors and hide behind the guise of environmentalism in an obvious attempt at a land grab?
Can we also ask him if it is politically correct to report any possible infractions (real or imagined) to the authorities while hiding the fact that he illegally expanded his septic system without Department of Health or wetlands permits?
