It’s Garnets vs. Huskies, Saturday 2pm at Harrison
MyRye.com is pleased to be providing the Old Garnet's (AKA former school board prez Steve Feeney) Garnet football write-ups. It's the big one this week – Garnets vs. Huskies. See you at the field.
Here is OG's note on Saturday's game:
Saturday, October 17
Rye @ Harrison (@ Feeley Field) 2:00 PM
Oh how the worm has turned from Maroon and White to Garnet and Black. In the ‘90s – HHS 9, RHS 1. So far in the ‘00s – Garnets 7-3 over the HARRISON HUSKIES. With both schools now in the same classification, “The Game” returns to its rightful place as the coup-de-gras, piece–de-resistance, icing on the cake, sprinkles on the sundae, final game of the regular season. This rivalry extending back some three generations over eight decades has now reached its 79th renewal as Westchester’s Premier Football Rivalry Game. Hey boys, its time to strap on the old leather helmet, cinch up the chinstrap and suck it up – you are representing generations of your communities in this one. This week’s game is for all the marbles, all the bragging rights. It’s the BIG ONE as Rye seeks an unprecedented (for Rye) seventh straight trying to edge ever closer to parity in the long-standing series currently logged at 34-41-3 (.453%). If you want prime seats arrive early, long before the 2:00 PM kick-off of Westchester’s finest high school football game.
HANG THE HUSKIES ! HANG THE HUSKIES ! HANG THE HUSKIES !
