New NBC Boss Grew Up in Rye
Maybe he watched Rye TV or worked in its studio at Rye High School.
The new boss at NBC, Comcast's Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke, grew up in Rye, NY, according to a recent report in Forbes:
"LOS ANGELES — Before he knew how to drive, Stephen Burke had the distinction of being perhaps the only teenager in Rye, N.Y., who knew the difference between ratings and share when measuring television audiences (one is percent of all TV households, the other the percent of households tuned into a particular program). Such were the dinner table conversations in his household, where his father, television executive Daniel Burke, was the longtime No. 2 at what eventually became Capital Cities/ABC.
Grown-up Stephen, now 51, is likely to need all that TV knowledge and a lot more in coming months. His employer, Comcast, the nation’s biggest cable operator, is close to acquiring a majority stake in film and television company NBC Universal from General Electric."
If Rye TV needs any equipment, they now know who to call.
