The Rye Fire Department is giving Haiti "The Boot" this Saturday (February 27th, 2010) from 1-5pm at Rye FD headquarters at 15 Locus Avenue (right off Purchase Street in downtown Rye).

Tiger Scouts of Rye Pack 2, Den 7 will join volunteer firefighters on the streets of downtown Rye  promoting the event and collecting donations in firefighter boots. All money raised will go towards the American Red Cross Relief Effort in Haiti.

RyeFDshirt-helpforhaiti3_thumb Besides filling up firefighter boots with your cash, the event at the fire house will feature music, food, soft drinks, a silent auction and a raffle.  Local merchants and restaurateurs have donated food, auction items and raffle prizes. Residents can also purchase special edition Rye FD t-shirts. Shirt sizes and pricing will be: Youth ($25), and Adult M, L, XL (all $30).

Recently, the Rye Professional Firefighters Association donated $1,000 to Rye Rotary for Haiti relief. Nice work.

  1. I don’t know how much money was raised yesterday, but a nice job seemed to have been done by many people. My kids like their new T-shirts and they seemed to like the music, although it was a bit too loud for my aging ears. Hats of the the fire department, volunteers and Den 7.
