Rye City Picks-Up New CEO
Rye, New York has a new CEO.
Rye City Council voted tonight (at its scheduled meeting) on a "MOU" – memo of understanding – that will make Scott Pickup the new Rye City Manager effective July 1, 2010. Pickup currently serves as Rye's assistant city manager. Pickup's current assistant city manager position will not be filled due to the current hiring freeze.
The city council voted tonight 7-0 to approve the MOU and make Pickup the big cheese, replacing interim City Manager Frank Culross. Pickup will be paid a salary of $177, 500 according to the MOU. Read the full MOU between Rye City and Scott Pickup.
Mayor Doug French commented on Pickup: "As Mayor, I have the full confidence in Scott Pickup that he can lead and manage our City in the years ahead. He has credibility with the community, the respect of City employees, the endorsement of his peers and other municipal officials, and the knowledge, experience and point-of-view to take on the challenges we face head on."
"We reviewed over 60 national and regional, highly qualified applicants and narrowed those down to the top 20 based on requisite qualifications. The council and I then collectively selected the top 6 for a series interview sessions, narrowing down and agreeing on the top 3 for final interviews. By working with Frank Culross who has worked as a search consultant, and utilizing direct hiring channels, we saved the City up to $25k in search firm fees and got an excellent applicant pool to choose from."
