OK trivia fans, what came first, the grill or the bar?

When man first arrived in Rye (350 years ago..) what came first, the grill or the bar?
Many in Rye actually think the Rye Grill & Bar has been in Rye for 350 years (only since 1992, sorry). And some hibernated in their cave (AKA The Town Dock or Ruby's) when this Rye classic went under the knife a couple years ago.
But is it the Rye Grill & Bar? Or the Rye Bar & Grill? Does this Rye institution need to be institutionalized for an identity crisis worn right on its face?
We might need an intervention. The clock face says Rye Bar & Grill. The sign says Rye Grill & Bar. What do you, the MyRye.com reader say? Leave a comment below and tell us your thoughts.
