The Rye PD Logs: Coyote a Day Keeps Rye Residents at Bay

Rye PD coyote tracker

MyRye.com is tracking coyotes – in the Rye PD log book.

Just as Rye City is equipping school gym teachers and security guards with air horns to frighten off coyotes who might want to lunch on our kids, a look at the Rye PD coyote tracking diary shows that over a 56 day period the 15,000 residents of Rye reported slightly less than a single coyote sighting per day – 52 sightings in total.

One coyote a day - RYE
Not to diminish coyotes jumping on our kids – because that is pretty much like a horror movie – but we're pretty sure there have been many more news stories by the big metro newspapers and TV stations than actual coyote sightings. Read the Rye PD coyote tracking diary – complete with redacted names (to protect the coyote informers) and coyote locations from late June to early September.
