Eastern Conference
Atlantic
New Jersey Devils
Pittsburgh Penguins
Philadelphia Flyers
New York Rangers
New York Islanders
Bottom Line: The Rangers are a disaster waiting to happen while the Devils went out and re-signed Ilya Kovalchuck. The Penguins and Flyers are still playoff teams as well while the Islanders are still rebuilding.
Northeast
Buffalo Sabers
Montreal Canadians
Ottawa Senators
Boston Bruins
Toronto Maple Leafs
Bottom Line: The Sabers have an edge in this division with Goalie Ryan Miller ready to lead them to victory. The Bruins had a disappointing exit to last year’s playoffs and won’t come back strong. The Canadians will have a much better season than last and might enjoy postseason success while the Senators are a playoff team.
Southeast
Washington Capitols
Atlanta Thrashers
Carolina Hurricanes
Tampa Bay Lightning
Florida Panthers
Bottom Line: The Capitols are clearly the best team in this division and will run away with the division.
Western Conference
Central
Chicago Blackhawks
Nashville Predators
Detroit Red Wings
St. Louis Blues
Columbus Blue Jackets
Bottom Line: Not much changes in this division besides the fact that the Red Wings are one year older. The Blackhawks are Stanley Cup Champions and should be expecting to win the division.
Northwest
Vancouver Canucks
Colorado Avalanche
Calgary Flames
Minnesota Wild
Edmonton Oilers
Bottom Line: The Canucks are coming off a division title and with Canadian hero Roberto Luongo in the goal they should expect another division
Pacific
San Jose Sharks
Phoenix Coyotes
Los Angeles Kings
Anaheim Ducks
Dallas Stars
Bottom Line: The Sharks will win another division yet lose disappointingly in the playoffs.
Stanley Cup Final Preview
Capitols over Canucks. Alex Ovechkin will win a title and the Capitols will win it in 6.
