Twig Opens New Branch

Twig Antiques, part of the not-for-profit organization The Twig of  Westchester County Inc., is opening a new branch (sorry, could not resist).

Twig Antiques is now open for business at 24 Smith Street, Rye. The charity abondoned its 47 year home at 15 Purchase Street after the landlord decided she was not running a charity and tried hiking the rent. Twig is now down the street around the corner from TD Bank and just up the street from Carpet Trends.

Twig New Location

Twig Antiques is run by an all-volunteer group known as the 15th Twig, a branch of the not-for-profit organization The Twig of  Westchester County Inc., whose mission is to support the health care needs of the local community through advocacy, fund raising, and hands-on volunteer efforts.  For decades the 15th Twig’s shop played a major role in helping the Twig Inc. raise funds for United Hospital. Since the hospital’s closing, Twig contributions have been given to the Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester, the Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps (Emergency Medical Service) and other not-for-profit services in the Rye area.

To celebrate the re-opening, President Nicole Steinthal and the 15th Twig are planning a Thursday, November 4th  “Mad Men Cocktail Party”  from 6-8PM featuring mid-century glassware (Forget the glassware, what about the drinks? We need Manhattans, Sidecars and Vodka Gimlets).  The public is invited to come in for a glass of wine (wine? see "drinks", just above) and to see the antique furniture, decorative objects, and prints and paintings. A trunk show of vintage jewelry from Vintage Vogue will also be available for sale to benefit Twig Inc.

Shop hours remain as before, 10AM to 4PM, Monday through Saturday. For more information call Twig Antiques (914) 967-4518.
