No Garbage Pickup in Rye City Today (Thursday, January 27, 2011)
Don't put your garbage out today:
CITY OF RYE
THERE WILL BE NO GARBAGE OR RECYCLING ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 27, 2011 DUE TO THE STORM. REGULAR PICKUP WILL RESUME TOMORROW ON A FRIDAY SCHEDULE.
I just want to say the City of Rye DPW has done a fantastic job of clearing the snow from our streets. Travel into other neighboring towns or even NYC and Rye hands down knows what they have to do to clear the streets. They deserve a lot of credit and a thank you.
Need Change,
FACT: It is City RESPONSIBILITY to clear snow from the CROSSWALKS & CORNERS!!!
What is your assessment on this as it pertains to DPW?
BTW – I do agree with your statement above, clearing the streets they do a great job!!!
I think DPW is doing a great job and so are the citizens of Rye. The main thing now is there is no place to put the snow. I don’t like the snow at the crosswalks either but there is too much snow and no place to put it.
H.C.,
With all do respect, these conditions have existed since the very first snow fall back on 12/26!
I disagree, there are plenty of places to put the snow!
Other towns have and are doing it!
At the end of Monday, drive thru Harrison on Halstead and ask yourself….”where did they put all that snow”
You just can’t leave the curb sides, corners & crosswalks in this state and close your eyes!!!
FTR – If DPW were directed, asked,or any other way you want to put it, to clear the crosswalks & corners, they would!
Our DPW is one of the finest & they are more than capable!
THE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM LIES WITH UPPER MANAGEMENT!!
