Final Season? Playland Opens This Saturday
Rye's Playland opens for its 83rd Opening Day this Saturday, May 14, 2011. Depending on what happens with Astorino's Playland Reinvention project, this may also be the last season for the venerable park.
Gates open and fun gets underway with a parade and entertainment beginning at 11 a.m. and rides opening at noon. Rain date is Sunday, day, May 15.
Special Opening Day admission is $15 and good for unlimited rides until the park closes at 8 pm. Admissions go on sale at 10:30 am. Spectator admission will also be available.
The opening celebration begins with free strolling entertainment at the Fountain Plaza at 11 am followed by the traditional parade with the Port Chester High School Marching Band accompanied by local dignitaries, staff and Playland's mascot, Coaster the Dragon.
The Fabulous SixTies Rock Show will be the featured band at the Music Tower Theater at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 pm. The Fabulous SixTies Rock Show will bring you back to the roots of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and other big '60s bands.
Daily admission prices (after opening day) are $30 Unlimited Rides and $20 Kiddyland-only admission anytime.
Westchester residents with acceptable proof of residency are eligible for a $5 discount on these prices. $10 Spectator admission (no rides) with a $5 discount for residents.
Season passes are $95 for Unlimited Rides all season, with a $15 discount for Westchester residents and $35 for Spectator Admission all season (no rides), with a $10 discount for residents.
Acceptable proof of Westchester residency is a County Park Pass, New York State driver's license or non-driver I.D., a county school photo I.D., report card.
Playland's pre-season schedule is Saturdays from 12 pm. to 8 pm. and Sundays from 12 pm. to 7 pm. until Memorial Day weekend.
Parking is $5 weekdays and $7 weekends.
