Walking School Bus Captures Eye of WCBS
A walking school bus initiative in Rye – about 200 kids that walk in various groups to school vs. being driven in a car – caught the eye of WCBS radio:
"“It’s good because it helps the environment from all that pollution and it makes our bones stronger and healthy,” 7-year-old Aiden explained.
The program is part of a Safe Routes To School initiative that is focused on getting children to and from school safely. Each group of students is led by one or more adults.
Walking school buses help the kids get some exercise and also loosens up traffic on the roads."
