NY Post Theater Columnist Samples Playland’s Dragon Coaster

The New York Post theater columnist recently sampled some roller coaster theatrics in the metro area, including Rye Playland's "venerable" Dragon Coaster:

"Summer’s here with its “days of soda and pretzels and beer,” as the great Nat King Cole sings.

But if summer also means amusement parks to you, stay away from the pretzels and beer.

I’ve sampled some of the latest hair-raising contraptions in the New York area, and believe me, it’s not a good idea to ride them on a full stomach…

Westchester’s Rye Playland opened in 1928, making it one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. It’s home to the venerable Dragon, an 80-year-old wooden roller coaster that still provides plenty of thrills (as well as a few bruises from being thrown around in the car). I ride it every year and still get a kick out of racing into the Dragon’s mouth."
