No Plans Tonight? Then “Bag It”

The Rye City Council is considering banning plastic bags. Apparently the anti-bag movement is so big, they make movies about the evil plastic bag.

And you can see the movie — the award winning 'Bag It' film — and a panel discussion — tonight, Friday, October 21, 2011 at 7pm at the Rye Country Day School, Performing Arts Center. The event is co-sponsored by Rye Sustainability Committee and RCDS Environmental Auxiliary Committee. RSVP here – there is no cost.

The panelists:

Michael Garguilo: Award winning educator and environmental advocate.

Kristin Quell-Garguillo: Sustainable systems and resource managment expert.

Jonathan Cunitz: Westport, CT legislator and chief architect of Westport's 2009 retail shopping bag ordinance.

Details on the movie: An average guy makes a resolution to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store. Little does he know that this simple decision will change his life completely. He comes to the conclusion that our consumptive use of plastic has finally caught up to us, and looks at what we can do about it. Today. Right now.
