Rye Running Company will be celebrating its Grand Opening this Saturday, November 26th, 2011.
Following Rye Rec's Annual Turkey Trot, a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for noon at the store's 37 Purchase Street location – the site of the former Athlete's Foot.
Throughout the day there will be live music, catering by Upper Crust Bagels, giveaways, contests, raffles, and face painting. The store will be open for business from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Some local residents may be familiar with the Greenwich Running Company by the same owners. The Rye Running Company is the nineteenth edition of a project started by former owner and Olympic Trials qualifier, Gene Mitchell. Gene started the Princeton Running Company with the desire to better serve the running community of Princeton, New Jersey. Fast forward to 13 years later, and Gene's passion and fervor has been extended to a few hundred employees across eight states.
The Running Company is founded on principles aimed to better serve and support the local running community. Store staff are trained and knowledgeable in running mechanics and kinematics as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation. The store is known for its video gait analysis where they will examine the way you run and make various recommendations for the best running shoes and things like that.
Look for complimentary weekly group runs, professional seminars, and parties. December 5th at 5pm will be the store's first seminar–a good form running clinic with Mike Blanchard, a representative from Newton Running.
