Local Commuters Robbed at Gunpoint

Rye PD is warning residents that robberies have been reported near train stations in Sound Shore towns, including the Harrison station that is used by many Rye residents.

The warning from Rye PD:

"Local police agencies are investigating robberies that have occurred in Sound Shore communities in recent days: Pelham, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, and Harrison. All have taken place on side streets in the vicinity of train stations, primaily between 7:30 P.M. and 10:30 P.M. The suspect is approximately 5 feet 10 and weighs 180 to 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or bubble jacket, blue jeans, and a bandana or mask. He was carrying a silver or black handgun.

There have been no incidents in the City of Rye at this time, but we encourage commuters to be aware of their surroundings when exiting the train station and to advise the police, either via 911 or (914) 967-1234, of any suspicious activity. We will be providing extra patrol of the area."
