July 4th Fireworks at Rye Playand & Morning Speeches at Library
July 4th is around the corner and you can see the fireworks show at Rye Playland at 9:30pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. After July 4th, the regular fireworks show will be held at Playland every Wednesday and Friday at 9:15pm until August 31st.
On the morning of the 4th at 10:30am, the Leaders of Tomorrow and the Rye Free Reading Room present "A Celebration of our Nation’s 236th Birthday" with Selected Speeches and the Reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by patriotic singing and the unfurling of the American Legion’s Historic American Flag on the porch of the Rye Free Reading Room.
As the 4th of July weekend approaches in Rye and we celebrate America’s 236th birthday, I thought it would be fitting to listen to one of our most beloved American patriotic songs and view it as it pertains to the ways in which our Mayor Doug French protects our shorelines each and every day.
