Coast Flood Warning Rye NY – Hurricane Sandy
Rye PD has issued the following coastal flood warning:
Alert: Coastal Flood Warning issued 6AM Monday-3PM Tuesday. Major coastal flooding possible. Details attached. Plan now.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning effective 6:00 A.M. Monday, October 29th through 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 30th. A storm surge of as much as 4 to 8 feet has the potential to cause major coastal flooding on the coastlines of Long Island Sound. Residents in flood prone coastal areas are urged to consider making alternate lodging arrangements during the storm.
Now is the time to plan. Forecasts indicate that this is a potentially dangerous storm. During periods of gale force or higher winds and flooding conditions, rescuers will not be able to reach you. Please take precautions while there is an opportunity.

THE HIGHEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS…AND IN AREAS THAT EXPERIENCE PROLONGED HEAVY RAIN BANDS.
