UPDATED – 7pm:

Advisory: Rye emergency shelter open at Rye Country Day School Upper Gym starting 8 PM Sunday 10/28/12

The City of Rye will open an emergency shelter at Rye Country Day School, in the Upper Gym, located off Grandview Avenue, at 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 28th.

Current forecasts indicate that Hurricane Sandy may produce major to record coastal/tidal flooding, especially during times of high tide on Monday. Tidal surges of 6 to 11 feet and wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour are possible. We recommend that residents of vulnerable areas relocate to safer areas during the storm. This should be with friends or family or commercial lodging in the first instance, but the shelter will be available as a resource for those with no other options.
