Nine Left: Last Rye City “Conned” Update

From 4,513 to 9.

Update from Rye City

Restoration of electrical power appears to be complete. As of 7:00 P.M. on November 11th, Con Edison reports that there are 9 outages in the City of Rye, down from an original count of 4,513. Oakland Beach Avenue remains closed east of Milton Road due to a low hanging high voltage wire. Repairs should be completed at that location within the next day or two. All other roads are open.

Con Ed advises that any outages remaining after this evening will be those that involve extensive damage to residential service. They have set up a task force for inspection and re-connection of such locations.

Con Edison also notes that in many areas, temporary repairs have been made in order to restore service. Crews will continue working in the coming days to make permanent repairs. In some cases, customers may have to be taken off line in order to complete repairs; those outages should be brief and temporary.

The Multi-Purpose Hurricane Sandy Recovery Center at the Westchester County Center in White Plains will continue to operate from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., seven days a week, until further notice.

This will be the last update for Hurricane Sandy; relevant information regarding FEMA operations and the recovery process will be provided when appropriate.
