Rye City ConEd Update, Warming Center, More Crap Weather & Free Early Bird Dinner at The Osborn

CITY OF RYE CON ED UPDATE 

Con Edison reports that there are approximately 1,629 outages in the City of Rye, or 27% of its customers. Countywide there are approximately 42,000 outages. The estimated time for system-wide restoration is November 9th.

Con Edison’s Control Center is directing the priority of restoration work. Their goal remains addressing problems that will restore service to the largest number of customers, followed by smaller jobs, and finally by individual outages. Please check www.coned.com for the status of your restoration.

All Rye City Schools, including Milton School and Osborn School, will be open on Wednesday.

There are still numerous downed power lines in the City. Please use caution; always assume that any wire is live.

The City will continue to operate a Warming Center at the Administration Building of Rye Golf Club, 330 Boston Post Road, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Weather forecasts for Wednesday call for a potentially significant Nor’easter to impact our area. A High Wind Warning has been issued effective 2:00 P.M. Wednesday to 4:00 A.M. Thursday for winds of 25 to 40 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH. A Coastal Flood Warning has been issued from 2:00 P.M. Wednesday to 7:00 A.M. Thursday for moderate coastal flooding during the Wednesday night and Thursday morning high tides, which are scheduled for 4:00 P.M. and 4:00 A.M.

The Osborn is inviting local residents without power at home to a free Community Hot Meal on Thursday, November 8th, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at The Osborn Auditorium, 101 Theall Road. To attend, you MUST RSVP by telephone at 925-8205 or by e-mail to [email protected]. Attendance is limited to 150. Please let people who do not have power at home and have been struggling for dinner each night know about this event.
