Engineering Program at Rye High Needs $53K in Corporate Cash

A new engineering program at Rye High needs $53K in corporate sponsorship. We bet there are a few folks arround that can help… there is even a $750 million dollar man who works in Rye.

Here are the details on the program:

We need help getting Corporate Sponsorship for an exceptional New RHS Program: “Project Lead the Way: Pathway to Engineering Program.”  Project Lead the Way (“PLTW”).  The program offers all students an opportunity to explore engineering principles through creative problem-solving and team building activities.  To see Principal Patricia Taylor’s and Teacher Amy Leahy’s presentation click this link: Project Lead the Way.  PLTW cites research studies demonstrating the program:

  • helps kids perform significantly better in both math & science
  • increases kids’ interest in math & science & increases enrollment in math & science courses
  • increases engagement in school
  • increases college enrollment, persistence & performance
  • helps close the achievement gap

***HOW TO HELP: The program has been approved by the district, but the technology component requires about $53,000.  RHS Principal Patricia Taylor is exploring the possibility of corporate sponsorships for the technology needs of the program.  If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, or if you can help by arranging a meeting for Patricia Taylor with potential corporate sponsors (Avon, or any others, etc.) please let Patricia know as soon as possible: [email protected].

  1. You have to laugh. They claim to have millions sitting in reserves; which is great but that’s when you take $53,000 of the money and invest in this course. Shouldn’t the money be used for something like this?
