Purchase Street Charity Shopping Night Thursday

Epidemic Answers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in collaboration with the Rye Chamber of Commerce and many local merchants, will be hosting a charity shopping event in downtown Rye on the evening of Thursday, June 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participating stores will be donating between 10% and 20% of sales to Epidemic Answers in support of the Canary Kids Film Project.  Shoppers are invited to enjoy a glass of wine and light appetizers after shopping, compliments of Ruby’s Bistro & Oyster Bar.

The shopping event is being organized and run by a group of local mothers in Rye, Harrison, Greenwich and surrounding towns in an effort to raise awareness to “the new childhood epidemics”:  autism, ADHD, allergies, asthma, obesity and other chronic conditions.  The Canary Kids Film Project has become a focal point for these local moms as the Film Project has the potential to alert millions of parents to the emerging health crisis in children.  “Parents need to know what is happening to our children, but also that there are answers and ways for children to get better,” said Mary Toulouse, one of the mothers organizing the event.

The Film Project will provide seven children (with a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, asthma or another chronic condition) with free healing and recovery services for a period of eighteen months.  The children’s recovery journey will be documented and made into a powerful feature-length film to be directed by award-winning filmmaker, Mary Mazzio of 50 Eggs Films.  The film will provide an exposé on many of the factors contributing to the epidemics but will also leave viewers with a message of hope:  These childhood conditions can be reversed.

Dr. Martha Herbert, MD, PhD, pediatric neurologist and professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School will be overseeing the Medical Advisory Board for the Project and will also be performing a clinical study of the enrolled children.  Epidemic Answers is currently planning several other fundraising events in New York City, Los Angeles and other major cities to pay for the treatment and healing of the children and the production of the film.  To see a trailer for The Canary Kids Film Project, learn more about Epidemic Answers, or to donate to the project, please visit: https://www.canarykidsmovie.com.   Donations to the project are tax-deductible.
