Rye City schools isued an update on the new construction:
The 2013-14 school year got off to a great start on September 9th! Rye High School and Rye Middle School students were welcomed to buildings that include many new upgrades, as construction of the science wing addition continues to progress. The most recent updates are as follows:
- Three previously existing interior science classrooms were converted into five rooms, all of which are in full use now that school has begun. Three of the rooms are being utilized for science while the remaining two are for general instruction.
- The locker room reconstruction continues — most electrical and plumbing work was completed. Locker installation is currently underway, and the next steps involve leveling of subfloor and installation of floor finish to be followed by installation of final fixtures.
- The two temporary changing rooms — the wrestling room and the storage room — were ready for the start of school after undergoing improvements over the summer.
- Exterior work for the new science wing is progressing as planned! The first of numerous concrete pours for the footing, foundations, and concrete slabs took place on August 14. All temporary walkways and site fencing were installed in August.
