A college student from Rye, Michael James Rath, a freshman at Coastal Carolina University, has been found dead. There is an investigation into the death.

"CCU student death under investigation
The Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of Michael James Rath, a freshman at Coastal Carolina University, who was found dead inside his apartment at University Place, according to CCU spokesperson Martha Hunn.
University Place is considered campus housing for CCU.
Rath, from Rye, NY, was found in a sleeping position on a sofa, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.
An autopsy will be done Thursday to determine the cause of death.
State Law Enforcement is on scene and is leading the investigation."
