RYE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN 4TH ANNUAL STATEWIDE “RECRUITNY” WEEKEND TO INCREASE OUR NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS
Recruitment Open House to be Held at Rye Fire Department on April 27, 9-1:30
(Rye, NY) The Rye Fire Department will open its doors to area residents, so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in our community, as part of the third annual RecruitNY statewide initiative. Like most volunteer fire departments, the Rye Fire Department needs to bolster its emergency responder numbers, so it can continue to provide the optimum level of protection for residents.
Sunday, April 27 between 9:00am and 1:30 pm, the Rye Fire Department, located at 15 Locust Ave Rye, NY will conduct tours of the station and firefighter apparatus, allow visitors to try on firefighter gear, and provide activities for visitors. There will be Volunteer firefighters to discuss the requirements to be a volunteer, as well as conduct demonstrations, answer questions, and let visitors know how to get involved in the fire department.
The Rye Fire Department dates to 1886 and is staffed by volunteer and career fire fighters. The company answered 888 calls last year. Volunteers, at every level of ability, are always needed and appreciated. All training and equipment is supplied by the department.
